In-Depth Information
(vul Pyatnytska) There are some interesting old buildings on vul Pyatnytska, which
branches off Armenian Market Sq. The large structure with a distinctive metal dragon
projecting from its facade is the old Russian Magistrate, now the headquarters of NIAZ
Kamyanets ( www.niazkamenec.org.ua ) , the body overseeing K-P's conservation area
(which seems to have had limited success of late!).

(vul Starobulvarna) Heading towards the fortress along the main drag through the Old
Town, you'll pass this baroque 18th-century Greek Catholic Church (formerly St Trin-
ity's), fronted by sculptures of two saints who appear to be boogieing on down. The in-
terior is disappointingly plain.
Festivals & Events
Kamyanets-
Podilsky City Day CITY FESTIVAL
Held in mid-May; features concerts, folk performances, parades, fireworks displays and,
of course, acres of souvenir stalls.

midrange choice with a wide range of rooms - from cupboard-sized twins to deluxe

Hotel 7 Days HOTEL$$$
( 690 69; www.7dniv.ua ; vul Soborna 4; s/d from 240/420uah; ) This immensely
popular place in the New Town impresses from the moment you walk into the air-condi-
tioned, design-style lobby. Staff speak English, the service is professional, and the room
rate includes breakfast plus use of the swimming pool and fitness centre. Despite having
218 comfortable rooms, it's still advisable to book ahead. Bathrooms could do with an
update here and there but overall it's a superb place to unzip your pack.
