In-Depth Information
Most international and domestic flights use Boryspil International Airport ( Click here ) ,
about 35km east of the city, but the small modern Zhulyany airport ( 585 7254;
www.airport.kiev.ua ) is getting increasingly important because of its proximity to the city
centre. Budget airline Wizz Air flies from here to about a dozen European destinations,
including London, plus to Kutaisi in Georgia.

There are seven bus terminals, but the most useful for long-distance trips is the Central
bus station (Tsentralny Avtovokzal; pl Moskovska 3) , near Demiivska metro station - look
out for McDonald's as you exit. Buses for Petrushivka and Trostyanets leave from
Darnytsya bus station ( 559 4618; pr Gagarina 1; Chernihivska) . Vydubychi bus sta-
tion ( 559 4618; vul Naberezhno-Pecherska 10; Vydubychi) is handy for Kaniv. Buses for
Zhytomir and Berdychev leave from Dachna bus station (pr Peremohi 142) .
Long-distance express carriers Autolux ( 451 8628; www.autolux.com.ua ) and Gunsel (
525 4505; www.gunsel.com.ua ) run by far the fastest and most comfortable buses in the
business. They have frequent trips to most large regional centres; most go via, or contin-
ue to, Boryspil International Airport. You can book on their websites, or buy tickets at
the Central bus station or Boryspil airport.
MARSHRUTKA
Many destinations in central and western Ukraine can be reached by private marshrutky
(fixed-route minibuses) - 15-seat minibuses, which (normally) don't accept standing pas-
