this place as a teashop, pub, restaurant, music venue or a bookshop, but crucially it is a
stronghold of Ukrainian nationalism spiced with New Age mysticism. Who built

wise, it makes great herbal teas and its trademark coffee with yolk and cedar nuts. But

An outlet of this international Cuban
jazz-cafe chain was an instant success in Kyiv, where many Cuban students chose to re-
main when the USSR called it a day. A mix of Ukrainians and expats gather here to
plunge into Buena Vista melancholy induced by outstanding resident and guest per-
formers, while tucking into fajitas and emptying one mojito after another. All Cuban
waiters seem to be part-time salsa teachers.
