Sacred Datura
SEGO LILY Found in the drier areas below the rim in Bryce Canyon and in the
canyons, cliffs, and plateaus of Zion, the sego lily has delicate white flowers, each
about 1 to 2 inches wide. Flowers appear in late spring or early summer, and each is
bell shaped, with three petals. The sego lily is the Utah state flower, and the state's
early Mormon settlers ate the plant's bulbs when food was scarce.
