In-Depth Information
coni gurations must be applied. In the following sections, we'll go over the core coni gura-
tions needed to make use of vCO in your environment. Do not be discouraged by the relatively
long list of coni guration needs. vCO has many touch points into your environment, and these
changes are necessary for vCO to function properly.
Starting the vCenter Orchestrator Configuration Service
The i rst step in coni guring vCO is starting the vCO Coni guration service. This service allows
you to coni gure settings such as network, database, and server certii cate settings for the vCO
engine. By default, this service is set to manual startup. It must be running in order to access the
web-based coni guration interface.
Perform the following steps to start the vCO Coni guration service:
1. Log in as an administrative user to the computer running vCenter Server, which will
have vCenter Orchestrator also installed automatically.
2. From the Start menu, choose Run.
3. In the Run dialog box, type services.msc , and click OK.
4. When the Services window opens, scroll through the list of services in the pane on the
right until you see the VMware vCenter Orchestrator Coni guration service.
5. Right-click the VMware vCenter Orchestrator Coni guration service and select Start.
6. Verify that the service started correctly by ensuring that the Status column for the
VMware vCenter Orchestrator Coni guration service lists Started.
After the service starts, you can access the vCO Web Coni guration interface.
7. Open a web browser, and go to
https://<computer IP address or DNS name>:8283
8. Log in with default credentials
User: vmware
Password: vmware
You will be prompted to change the default password. This is highly recommended.
Make sure you save this password in your records in case you need to make future
changes to the vCenter Orchestrator engine. This password must be complex, containing
at least eight characters, including one digit, one uppercase letter, and one special charac-
ter. You will be prompted if any of these conditions are not met.
9. Enter the new password and click Apply Changes.
Once logged in you will see all of your options for coni guring the vCenter Orchestrator
instance. You'll notice in Figure 14.4 that the default settings have been applied for the vCenter
Orchestrator instances that reside on the vCenter Server. This is a marked improvement to setup
over previous versions.
