On the software side, VMware created software features that would take advantage of this
hardware functionality to create a common CPU ID baseline for all the servers within a cluster.
This functionality, originally introduced in VMware ESX/ESXi 3.5 Update 2, is called VMware
Enhanced vMotion Compatibility.
EVC is enabled at the cluster level. Figure 12.11 shows the EVC controls for a cluster.
