Specifi cation
Manager is readily
accessible from the
home page of
the vSphere Web
Client in the
Management tab.
3. Click the i rst icon to create a new customization specii cation. This opens the vSphere
Web Client Guest Customization Wizard.
4. From the Target Virtual Machine OS drop-down box, select either Windows or Linux.
Windows is the default.
5. Provide a name for the customization specii cation and, optionally, a description. Click
Next to continue.
6. Supply a value for both Name and Organization (you won't be able to proceed until you
supply both). Click Next to proceed.
7. Select an option for the computer name within the Windows guest OS installation.
There are four options from which to select:
You can manually supply a name, but this option is useless without also selecting
Append A Numeric Value To Ensure Uniqueness.
Select Use The Virtual Machine Name to set the computer name within the guest OS
installation to the same value as the name of the VM.
Choose Enter A Name In The Clone/Deploy Wizard if you want to be prompted for a
name when you use this customization specii cation.
The fourth option uses a custom application coni gured with vCenter Server. Because
there is no custom application coni gured with this instance of vCenter Server, it is
currently disabled (grayed out).
