Building a functional NIC team requires that all uplinks be connected to physical switches
in the same broadcast domain. If VLANs are used, then all the switches should be coni gured
for VLAN trunking, and the appropriate subset of VLANs must be allowed across the VLAN
trunk. In a Cisco switch, this is typically controlled with the switchport trunk allowed vlan
statement.
In Figure 5.30, the NIC team for vSwitch0 will work, because both of the physical switches
share VLAN 100 and are therefore in the same broadcast domain. The NIC team for vSwitch1,
however, will not work because the physical network adapters do not share a common broadcast
domain.
