in Developing Economies
In India during 2008-2009, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)
undertook an initiative to demonstrate an integrated technology-package in entre-
preneurial mode on medium size (200-1,000 Nm

) biogas fertiliser plants
(BGFP) for generation, purifi cation/upgrading, bottling and piped distribution of
biogas. A 50 % subsidy of the total project cost for compressed biogas plant (Biogas
Bottling) was extended for another six months by the MNRE, Government of India.
