Discussion

Very little to almost no literature on impact of dam on aquatic environment is avail-
able on upper Garhwal Himalayan especially on river Ganges (Bhagirathi). Most of
the work done so far has been on documentation of some fish species in the region.
We could find only couple of studies carried out in this region by the group of
