In-Depth Information
If you're under the gun, like when presenting to a client, it's a good idea to do a
few trial runs with any new templates and settings that you haven't used before
uploading the i nal gallery i les and sharing the link. Just like in all Web site
development, thorough testing is necessary to be sure everything's right before
announcing your gallery with the world.

Upload the gallery
When you're done coni guring your Web gallery, click the Upload button.
Lightroom will generate all the i les required for the gallery, including jpg images
and ht ml pages (and Flash i les, if necessary) and will upload them to your Web
server in the location specii ed.
Uploading does not save a local copy to your hard drive. When you use the
Web module to upload gallery i les directly to your server, no i les are stored
on your hard drive. If this matters to you, you have two options: 1) use Export
instead, and manually upload the i les using an ftp p rogram, or 2) at er using
Lightroom to upload, use the ftp p rogram to download copies to your local disk.
Update your template
All the panel settings—including Upload Settings—will be stored in the template.
In the future, you will only need to tweak a few settings to publish new galleries!
Updating pre-existing Web galleries
Each time you upload or export a gallery from Lightroom's Web module, every
i le must be re-written. You don't have the option to add just a single i le, or
change one text option, without re-generating the entire gallery. Usually, this is
not a problem, as long as you're not in a hurry. Keep in mind that if you make
changes to a Web gallery and need to re-upload to your server, the entire gallery
will be re-written. If you've made changes to those i les outside Lightroom, such
as changing css i les, etc. you will need to be careful with this.

EXPORTING WEB GALLERIES
You can also export Web galleries from Lightroom even if you don't have a Web
hosting account set up. In a way, a Web export is the opposite of Upload: the i les
are saved to your hard drive but not to a Web server. (It's important to understand
that exporting a Web gallery is dif erent than using the regular Export command
to make derivative i les, in which only image i les are produced.)
Because of the way Lightroom packages all the i les within a single, top-level
directory, and because all the links to i les and pages are relative to one another
within that folder, you can do all kinds of useful things with exported Web
