DELETING COLLECTIONS,
SMART COLLECTIONS
AND SETS
To delete a collection or set,
select it in the list, then either
click the minus button on the panel header (see Figure 3-94) or right-click/
control+click the collection name and select Delete from the popup menu.

Deleting a collection will not af ect any original photos in disk, or instances of
photos that might also be in other collections.
Deleting a collection set will also delete all the collections within it.
Processing photos in Library
Sometimes when you're editing photos from a shoot you'll want to do some
processing to help your decision-making process. Maybe you have a group of
shots that are underexposed, or the white balance is of . In these cases, you can
use tools and panels in Library to evaluate photos and apply simple adjustments
to them.

Processing decisions can be made
easier by evaluating the histogram ;
see Figure 3-95. h is ot -

graph. It shows the digital values
contained in the photo, with
blacks at the let and whites at
the right. h e height of the levels
in-between indicates the relative
number of pixels at that brightness value within the image.

Using the Histogram panel in Quick Develop can give you a better
understanding of the data in the photo. Knowing what you're starting
with can help you decide where you want to go in processing your photos.
But don't obsess over the histogram!
