Located almost 50 kilometres northeast of Madeira Island, Porto Santo is the most northern
and eastern island of the archipelago of Madeira and certainly one of the most beautiful. One
of the last islands in the archipelago to the discovered by tourism, Porto Santo is quickly
becoming a favourite destination for a summer break or a winter getaway. Almost the whole
island is dominated by golden volcanic sand, said to have curative powers for a range of
aches and pains, and a newly constructed international airport makes access to this postcard-
perfect island simple.
