Located along the banks of the Nabão River, Tomar is a town with history and charm in
abundance. Once the headquarters of the Knights Templar, the town is home to one of the
country's most impressive sites, the UNESCO World Heritage listed Convent of Christ. The
historical significance of Tomar is on display for all enjoy, with numerous fascinating build-
ings located in the town. Known as the 'jewel of central Portugal', wandering around the
street grids of Tomar is like taking a walk through history.
