Among Portugal's most picturesque coastal resorts, Nazare has all one could wish for in
a seaside town; cobbled lanes, sandy beaches, locals in traditional dress, superb restaur-
ants, historic buildings, and a fun atmosphere. The expanse of the beach is overlooked by
Promontorio do Sitio, which provides spectacular coastal views form the lofty cliffs. Tra-
dition is extremely important to the locals of this fishing village and something they cling
onto with great pride - it wasn't so long ago that fishermen used oxen to pull their distinctly
colourful boats from the ocean.
