The exact site where the apparition appeared is now a small chapel, constantly overflowing
with devotees lighting candles and offering flowers. Masses are also held here daily in a
variety of languages. The chapel is surrounded by countless souvenir shops, hotels, and a
park with picnic tables - an extremely popular place for a spot of lunch. Whatever your
religious beliefs, Fatima is worth a visit to admire the dazzling white Basilica, the House
of Our Lady Dolours, fronted by an expansive concrete forecourt. A couple of museums
are also located here; the Museum of Sacred Art and Ethnology which tells the story of the
Redemption via exhibits and pictures, and the Wax Museum which depicts the events of
Fatima in a series of 29 scenes.
