Among Europe's most wonderfully preserved medieval cities, Evora is a UNESCO World
Heritage Site in its own right. Step inside the city's 14 th Century walls to discover cobble-
stone streets, narrow alleyways, high arches, and ornate palaces and mansions. Beyond the
historic wonders Evora has to offer, it's also a university town equating to a lively atmo-
sphere and numerous cafés, eateries, restaurants, and pubs. Situated along the slopes of a
gently rising hill, Evora offers spectacular views of the Alentejo plain and is a great base for
day trips to nearby wineries and Neolithic monuments.
