logical data confirm that the prevailing winds were from the northwest
for all of 2 April, confirming an aerosol exposure on the afternoon of 2
April. 119
This conclusion is further confirmed by the location of animal anthrax
cases. The animal cases had originally been used as evidence in support
of the intestinal anthrax scenario, but careful investigation showed that
they occurred at the same time as, not before, the human outbreak. In
striking confirmation of aerosol exposure, all lay on an extension of the
same axis along which the human cases were found (figure 13.2).
