reasonable to expect that similar studies will be performed on the remaining
isomers as high-yielding synthetic routes to these core structures become increas-
ingly available. Fully conjugated indenofluorenes, too, are of great interest both
from a fundamental chemistry standpoint (paratropicity, para-quinodimethane sub-
unit, stability, bonding) as well as potential applications as organic semiconductors
(large electron affinities, charge-transport characteristics). Given the large number
of indenofluorene papers generated this past decade, the future prospects for this
class of molecules indeed look bright.
