Chapter 6
Working with Slides
Captivate allows you to customize exactly how the finished movie
looks. You can rearrange or delete slides, edit the way the elements on
the slide look, or change the way the mouse moves. You can adjust the
speed the movie plays and how the viewer navigates through your
movie. This chapter discusses how to add different types of slides and
how to delete slides from your project.
Slide Basics
Each time you capture a screen, Captivate stores it as a slide. Each
slide has its own properties, such as transitions and timing, and may
also have additional components, such as captions or highlight boxes.
When you publish and then play the movie, the timing of the slide
components and the transitions from slide to slide work together to
create a seamless series of actions.
When you view your movie in Storyboard view, each slide is
shown in miniature, with small icons representing the different compo-
nents of the slide. If you've used the automatic features of Captivate,
you'll see a variety of elements associated with each slide (such as
captions or highlight boxes). Each slide also has associated properties,
such as the length of time it will be displayed or the way you want to
transition to the next slide.
