You can modify the recording area by clicking and dragging any of
the square “handles” on the sides and corners of the red recording
area box or by clicking anywhere within the red box and dragging
it to a new location. The size of the movie area will be displayed in
the control box in the center of your screen. Depending on the
recording type, you'll also have the following additional options:

dow to display a list of your open windows,
then click the title of the window you want to
record. By default, the red recording area
encloses the exact window you specify.
