In-Depth Information
Open programs—If you're going to be recording the full screen or if
your recording area includes the bottom taskbar, you may want to
ensure that all extraneous software packages are closed. Also, be
aware that if you have other programs running, such as an e-mail
client or instant messaging software, any notifications or pop-up
windows that happen to display while you're recording will be cap-
tured in the Captivate movie. Close programs to remove their
icons from the taskbar.
Background—Don't use a multicolored, textured, or otherwise busy
background. This can distract from your movie and make it hard to
see mouse movement over the background.
Icons—If your recording area is full screen or allows for space
between program application windows, your movie will include
any icons that are on your desktop. Make sure that you are dis-
playing only those icons that belong in your movie.
Copyrights—Ensure that you have permission to use whatever screen
images or audio you plan to capture.
Tip:
If you run through your movie a couple of times before you
begin recording, you'll become more comfortable with the script or
storyboards and can identify and hopefully resolve any problems
that occur without storing error messages as part of your movie.
Specifying the Recording Area
When you begin recording a new movie, you'll need to specify which
part of the screen you want to record (the recording area). Follow
these steps:
1.
Start the program you want to record, then start the Captivate
software. The first screen you'll see is the Captivate main menu.
