Creating Your First
Creating Your First
Movie (Just the Basics!)
Movie (Just the Basics!)
Captivate is powerful and flexible, and you can make your movies as
intricate and interactive as you want. However, you will always start
with a basic movie. This chapter describes how to make a basic movie
with Captivate using the auto-record feature. Follow along and create a
demonstration from start to finish!
Overview
Captivate allows you to capture the movement of your cursor and the
resulting screen images with just a few keystrokes. To make the sim-
plest form of movie—one that you can modify and enhance
later—there are only a few basic steps:
1. Decide what you're going to record (discussed in more detail in
Chapter 2).
2. Turn on the Captivate recording function, and then perform the
tasks you want included in the movie.
3. Preview the project and make changes as necessary.
4. Publish the movie for others to use.
For the rest of this topic, we'll be creating movies about the web site
dedicated to Harry A. Franck, a well-known travel author from the
early part of last century.
