Generating Captivate
Generating Captivate
Output
After you've created your slides, added objects and interactivity, and
defined the movie-level components, the final step is to generate the
movie output. Captivate gives you a variety of output options, such as
stand-alone executable files or HTML files for web-based delivery.
Another type of Captivate output lets you specify just parts of the
movie, such as pulling out the text captions (for translation or review
purposes) or creating a variety of paper-based handouts.
There are also options that you can set to ensure your movie is
compatible with the U.S. Section 508 accessibility guidelines.
Publishing a Movie
There are a variety of output options available when you generate (or
“publish”) a movie project.
Flash (SWF)—This option creates a standard Flash file (.swf) that can
be played by a Flash viewer. You can have Captivate automatically
generate an HTML file that will use the default browser viewer, or
create a zipped file for easier transportation between systems.
Adobe Connect—Adobe Connect is a web-based meeting and presen-
tation server software package. You can export Captivate movies
directly to an Adobe Connect server.
Standalone—This option can produce a Windows executable file (.exe),
a Linux Projector file (.exe), or a Macintosh Projector file (.hqx).
