Working with Templates
As you've seen throughout this topic, Captivate gives you a lot of
options for the way the individual slides look (and sound) and the way
the movie runs. It can be very time-consuming to set all of these
options, so Captivate allows you to save the settings from a finished
movie as a template that you can use to create other movies. This not
only saves time, but it also ensures that your movie settings are con-
sistent from one project to the next. If you use a template to create a
movie, you can always change any of the settings as needed.
Tip:
Captivate templates are basic movie projects with all settings
and often with slides. These are not the same as the MenuBuilder
templates, which contain only information about the background for
one menu slide, similar to a PowerPoint template. See the section on
MenuBuilder later in this chapter for information about MenuBuilder
templates.
When you're working with templates, you'll need to:
1.
Create a movie with the settings you want, and then save it as a
template.
2.
Use the template to create new movies.
3.
( optional ) As time goes by, you may need to change your template.
You can edit templates directly, or simply make changes within a
movie and then save the new movie to the existing template
name.
