Chapter 12
Using Captivate Tools
Captivate comes with a variety of useful tools that help you do better
work and create better, more useful movies.
Spell checker—The spell checker in Captivate works just like spell
checkers in other software packages. You can choose from a list of
languages or change the dictionary that the spell checker uses.
Slide Notes—Add notes for your own use to any slide. You'll be able to
see the notes from a variety of places within Captivate, but they
won't be visible to the viewer once the movie is published. You can
use these notes as references when editing or reviewing your
movies, or as a guide when you're narrating. You can even print
the notes.
Templates—Once you've got a movie with all the settings you like,
you can save it as a template. Then, when you start a new movie,
use the template to ensure consistency across projects. You'll also
save time since you won't have to reset all the movie parameters.
Sizing tools—Anytime you're delivering electronic information, you
need to be aware of your file size and the size of the images on the
screen. Captivate has a couple of functions that help you manage
your movie size.
MenuBuilder—This tool creates a special slide that points to multiple
Captivate movies and works like—that's right!—a menu.
User Assistance—Of course, Captivate comes with online documenta-
tion that you can access either as PDF files or online Help,
including context-sensitive Help. In addition, there are a number
of other resources that can answer your questions and help to
solve problems you may encounter.
