Make Movies
This chapter describes the steps you should take before beginning to
use the Captivate software. Good planning and organization up front
will help you to make better movies!
We'll assume that you already have good communication skills,
including a good grasp of grammar and full understanding of the topic
or software you're going to be teaching or demonstrating. This chapter
will discuss the factors you'll need to consider in order to create a
fast-paced, exciting movie. We'll also review some basics of project
planning and general preproduction issues.
What Makes a Good Movie?
Captivate can be used for a myriad of purposes, such as product dem-
onstrations, tutorials, quizzes, assessments, training, and even simple
slide shows. But like any tool, it can create poor output just as easily as
great output.
A good movie delivers the information that the viewer needs in a
way that the viewer can understand. It is timely, accurate, and helpful.
It ISN'T boring, overly repetitious, or excessively long or complicated.
