documenting complex screens with many options. In such situations,
you can use the rollover caption to create a sort of interactive job aid
describing the use and purpose of each option.
Adding a Rollover Caption
To add a rollover caption, follow these steps:
1.
In Edit view, select the slide you want to edit.
2.
From the Insert menu, select Rollover Caption or click the Roll-
over Caption icon ( ) to display the New Rollover Caption
window, as shown in Figure 9-11.
3.
Type the text you want to display when the viewer rolls the mouse
over the designated area.
Tip:
While there is no limit to the amount of text you can include in
a caption, remember that this caption will be sitting on top of your
slide background (which is often already very busy) and the more
text you include, the smaller it will have to be to fit on the screen. The
best captions are succinct and to the point. Use short declarative
phrases (“This is the main menu”) or brief commands (“Click here to
go to the next page”).
