Show button
For text entry boxes only , displays a button that the viewer clicks to indi-
cate the text entry is complete (like a Submit or Enter button). Note that
this button is not the same as a fully interactive button; it is a component
of the text entry box element.
Show text box frame
For text entry boxes only , displays a border around the text box.
Password
For text entry boxes only , causes the text that the viewer enters to be dis-
played on the screen as asterisks, just as many passwords display.
Case-sensitive

as it is entered in the properties box, with all upper- and lowercase letters
typed correctly.

You may choose to enter audio properties (see Chapter 8). You can
also set properties that relate to e-learning and quizzes, which are
described in Chapter 10.

To view the changes you've made and continue working in the
properties window, click Apply . When you are done, click OK to
close the element's properties window and view the new element
on your slide, along with the success or failure captions and any
other components you have turned on.
Step 4: Adjust Interactive Elements and Components
If you used the automatic functions to create interactive elements
while recording, the elements are likely to be placed at the appropriate
points in the slide (such as click boxes over links that you click and
success or failure captions right next to the elements the viewer is
supposed to click, such as menu icons). When you create new interac-
tive elements on your slide, Captivate defaults to placing them in the
center of the slide at a default size. You'll need to move and resize
these elements as appropriate, exactly as you would move or resize or
align any other element, by clicking and dragging the whole element to
a new location or dragging the handles of the element to resize it (see
Chapter 7). You can also move the associated components, such as
success captions or hints.
In addition, you'll probably want to change the text that appears on
the additional components of interactive elements. If you're adding
new elements, the default text just says something like “Enter suc-
cess text here.” Even if you're using the automatically generated text,
you may want to change the wording. You can also change the color
schemes and other properties of the success, failure, and hint captions.
