By default, Captivate allows the viewer an unlimited (infinite)
number of tries to get the correct action (click in the click box or
on the button, or type the correct text in the text entry box). If you
want to limit the number of attempts, click the Infinite attempts
check box to deselect it, then specify the number of attempts you
want to give the viewer. If you leave Infinite attempts selected, the
movie will pause until the viewer gets it right. If you specified a
number of attempts, choose an option from the After last
attempt drop-down list to specify what you want the movie to dis-
play after the last unsuccessful attempt. Valid options are the same
as for successful actions and are listed in Table 9-1.
7.
For button elements only , choose the way you want the button to
look by choosing from the Type drop-down menu (see “Step 2: Set
Button Properties”).
8.
For text entry box elements only , click the Options tab and choose
the way you want the entry box to display on the screen by select-
ing one of the following transition parameters:
Fade in—The box will appear very dim at first and will gradu-
ally become more solid until it reaches the defined transpar-
ency setting.
Fade out—The box will gradually become more transparent
until it is eliminated from the slide display completely.
Fade in and out—The box will appear dim, then gradually get
more solid. Then it will gradually become more transparent
until it is eliminated from the display completely.
No transition—The box simply displays and then is removed
after the specified timing.
For fading effects, you'll also need to specify how long or how
gradual the effect should be. The default is 0.5 seconds.
