4.
Select the Record Narration check box to turn on the audio
recording when you begin the movie.
5.
Choose the audio input method from the drop-down box (Micro-
phone, Line In, or System Audio).
Note: If you have Record Narration selected, you won't have the
option to turn on camera sounds. The camera sounds are tools that
help you record; even when turned on, they don't play in the finished
movie.
6.
Click Record . If this is the first time you're recording audio this
session, a message displays. If you've recorded audio already, skip
to step 10.
Figure 8-6. Determine whether or not you want to calibrate your microphone.
7.
Click Ye s to begin calibration.
Tip:
Even though you don't have to calibrate for each recording
session (you can click No or even turn off the message by selecting
Don't ask me this again), it is a good idea to test the audio levels
each time you record. This will help identify the myriad little things
that can go wrong between recording sessions, such as a shift of
cables that loosens a connection or something being placed on a
table that blocks the microphone enough to impact audio levels.
8. When the calibration is complete, click OK to close the Calibrate
microphone window.
9. Click Record to begin recording screens and audio.
10. After clicking Record, a series of three countdown windows dis-
plays to let you know exactly when to begin speaking. Perform the
actions you want to record, and speak into the microphone to cre-
ate the audio.
