Hears—Adding Audio
Hears—Adding Audio
Captivate allows you to add sound to your movies, either by recording
sounds as you record the visual elements or by adding separate audio
files later. You can add sounds to a single element on a slide, for the
duration of a slide, or even for the whole movie. For example, you may
want to include special sounds for certain actions (like getting a ques-
tion right—or wrong) or narrate your actions on the screen. You can
also include sound files as needed for accessibility purposes or simply
add some background music that plays throughout the movie.
Like other elements (see Chapter 7), you can move audio files
around on the timeline, or copy, paste, and delete them as needed. You
can also adjust the sound level so that your audio volume is consistent
from slide to slide.
Recording New Audio Files
There are several ways to record audio in Captivate. You can record a
voice narration while you're recording a project, you can record audio
for an existing project, you can record individual audio files for each
slide, or you can record audio for each individual element (such as a
click box or caption). Before recording any audio, you must first set up
the appropriate audio equipment and calibrate it for use with Captivate.
