Selecting Elements
In order to perform actions like moving or resizing elements on a
slide, you must first specify which elements you want to work with.
You can do this in the following way:
Click once on an element to select it, either in the Edit view or
from the timeline. The outline of a selected element displays small
square boxes (called “handles”) in each corner and on each side of
the outline.
Tip: If you accidentally double-click on an element, the properties
window for that element appears. Simply click Cancel to close the
window. The element will remain selected.
To select multiple elements at once, do any one of the following:
Click on one element to select it, then hold down the Shift key
while you click on one or more subsequent elements.
Click on one element to select it, and then from the Edit menu,
choose Select All . Note that this option only becomes available
after you've selected one object.
Using the mouse, click anywhere on the slide, then hold down the
left mouse button while you drag the mouse across the screen.
This will draw a dotted line box, and any object within the box will
be selected when you release the mouse button.
There are two elements in Figure 7-25: one text caption and one high-
light box. The text caption has been selected and displays handles.
The highlight box has not been selected.
