Using your mouse, click and drag the highlight box to the desired
location on the slide. You can also resize the highlight box if neces-
sary by clicking and dragging the corners of the outline.
Working with Images
For most projects, you'll use an image or series of images as the back-
ground of each slide. In many cases, this will be a screen capture, logo,
or photograph (see the section called “Working with the Slide Back-
ground” at the beginning of this chapter). When you create an image
slide, you're importing an image as the background. Background
images cannot be edited or changed within Captivate.
You can also import an image as an element on top of a slide back-
ground. Like other visual elements, the image can have unique timing
and transition settings. You can resize the image or move it around on
the slide. You can also specify a transparency setting for the image.
Valid image formats include JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, ICO, EMF,
POT, and WMF.
Tip:
Although you can add images of any size, this process works
best with smaller images, such as an arrow or small icon or button
that you will make interactive. If you need to import an image that
will take up the entire slide area, see the section titled “Adding an
Image Slide” in Chapter 6.
Adding or Editing an Image
Once you've imported an image, you can move it around or resize it
just like any other element on the slide. You can also set the length of
time it displays, as well as define the way the image enters and leaves
the screen during the movie (the transition). You cannot, however,
actually edit the image (such as change colors or erase parts of the
image). For that type of task, you'll need to use an external graphics
application.
To add or edit an image, follow these steps:
1.
In Edit view, select the slide you want to edit.
2.
To add a new image, from the Insert menu, select Image , or click
the Image icon ( ) to display the images available in the last
folder you used. Browse to the location of the image you want to
