In-Depth Information
This type of slide:
Uses this for a background:
Blank slide
The background of the slide is a solid color as specified in the background
preferences for the movie.
PowerPoint slide
The original PowerPoint slide becomes the background. Note that once
you've imported a PowerPoint slide into Captivate, you can no longer edit
the text on the slides. However, you can add new text boxes to a slide with
a PowerPoint background.
Question slide
The background of the slide is a solid color as specified in the background
preferences for the movie.
Animation slide
The background of the slide is a solid color as specified in the background
preferences for the movie.
You can't edit the contents of the background image within the Capti-
vate software, but you can change the background of a slide to a new
image. It's fairly simple to reimport the background into any slide, so if
you need to make edits and have an external graphics program, you
can make background changes. For example, if you've got a logo for a
background, and your company logo changes, you can simply replace
the old background logo with the new one. Any transitions or other
elements on that slide remain in place.
In another example, sometimes when you're documenting a soft-
ware product, a menu item might change. You could rerecord the slides
that show that menu item, then edit the elements such as text captions
or timings as necessary. Or you could copy the background image to
your graphics package, change the one menu item, then replace the
background of the slides with the new edited image. All of the other
elements (captions, questions, click boxes, rollovers, buttons, etc.) will
be retained.
Setting the Background Color
If you're working with slides that allow the background color of the
project to show through (such as question slides, blank slides, or ani-
mation slides with an animation smaller than the movie size), you can
specify the default background color for the entire project. By default,
the background starts out as white.
To set a new background color, follow these steps:
1.
Open the Captivate project.
2.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences to display the Prefer-
ences window.
