ular Restaurante Bahía Azul (tel.7947-0151,7A.M.-10P.M.daily),wheremealsarealso
served on a patio overlooking the street. The creative menu includes curry, sweet and sour
or soy sauce chicken. There is live music some nights. It's also a good bet for breakfast.
Try the “Gangster” breakfast sandwich with ham, cheese, hot cakes, and honey—a bit like
a McGriddle. Farther up the same street toward Playa Bariques, Tilingo-Lingo (7 A.M.-
11 P.M. daily) serves good nachos, curries, fish, and tapado.
If you crave authentic Italian cuisine, head to Vecchia Toscana (tel. 7947-0883/84,
8A.M.-1A.M.daily),inBarrioParísonthebeachnorthoftowntowardPlayaQuehueche.
There are delicious pastas and wood-fired-oven pizzas with prices in the $4-9 range.
For the town's best sandwiches, check out The Sandwich Shoppe (Calle Marcos
Sánchez Díaz across from Casa Rosada, lunch and dinner Sun.-Thurs., until 6 P.M. Fri.,
6 P.M.-close Sat., $5-8), where you'll find some of your favorite subs including meatball,
Philly cheesesteak, BLT, and even Cuban sandwiches.
SERVICES
For money, Banrural is on Calle Principal, just past Villa Caribe, with an ATM. Farther up
the street is Banco Reformador, also with an ATM.
The immigration office (6 A.M.-7 P.M. daily) is also on Calle Principal across the street
from the Villa Caribe. You'll need to stop here first if heading out to or arriving from Bel-
ize. Telgua and the post office are right next to each other just up the street on the right
side.
For Internet access, try La Buganet (8:30 A.M.-9 P.M. Mon.-Sat.) or Happy Fish (7
A.M.-10P.M.daily),bothonCallePrincipalandcostingabout$2anhour.LaCasaRosada
does laundry for about $0.35 an item.
GETTING THERE
TheonlyaccesstoandfromLívingstonisbywater,eitherfromtheCaribbeanSeatoPuerto
Barrios, Belize, or Honduras or via the Río Dulce. There is daily ferry service to Puerto
Barrios at 5 A.M. and 2 P.M. (1.5 hours, $1.50), along with motorboats leaving when they
have a full load of people. There is also service to Punta Gorda, Belize, on Tuesdays and
