ATM.
GETTING THERE
Bus
Chichi lacks a bus terminal, though bus arrivals and departures are centered around 5a
Avenidaand5aCalle.TherearebusestoGuatemalaCityleavingevery30minutesbetween
4 A.M. and 5 P.M. (three hours, $2), eight daily buses to Panajachel (1.5 hours, $1.50)
between 5 A.M. and 2 P.M., and seven daily buses to Quetzaltenango (three hours, $1.75).
Alternatively, you can take any of the above to the Los Encuentros junction and change
thereforconnectingservice.Ifyou'reheadingnorth,therearefrequentbusestothedepart-
mental capital of Santa Cruz del Quiché leaving every 30 minutes.
Shuttle Bus
Adrenalina Tours ( www.adrenalinatours.com ) , with offices in Quetzaltenango and An-
tigua, offers shuttle service from Chichi to Panajachel, Antigua, Quetzaltenango, and
Guatemala City on market days. Chichi Turkaj Tours (5a Avenida 5-24, tel. 7756-1579)
offers departures to the above cities plus Huehuetenango, the Mexican border, and others,
though it's best to inquire as to specific schedules and routes, as these tend to be somewhat
elastic.
Santa Cruz del Quiché and Vicinity
The capital of the Quiché department holds little of interest for foreign visitors when com-
pared to Chichicastenango, just 18 kilometers away, though facilities and services are ad-
