tunnels, and museum of antique
weaponry and military costumes,
this castle makes history come
alive. Guided tours put the past
in perspective, and occasional
re-enactments add thrilling
drama (see pp10-11) .

Youngsters will love this
huge forested and landscaped
park, which has lakes with pedal-
boats, as well as swings, slides,
and Jungle Gyms. Bicycles and
two- and four-seater cycles can
be rented to roam the park, and
there's also a miniature steam
train. Jump on the cable car for
great aerial views of the park.

make-believe figures in the drip-
stone formations here, and
spotting blind fish and blue-eyed
crabs in the underground river.

This theme park was built around
the Neo-Classical Faro de los
Morrillos lighthouse,
which is now a
maritime museum.
The park has a mini-
zoo, replica Spanish
galleons and pirate's
ship, a replica Taíno
village, a pirate's
cave, a salt-water
aquarium, and a
playground. The
lighthouse is a
great observatory
for whale-watching
in winter (see p70) .
