£ Airfares
( Arriving by Sea
San Juan is the
home port of more
than 20 cruise ships -
run by popular cruise
lines such as Royal
Caribbean and Carnival -
that depart for cruises
around the Caribbean.
A large number of other
Caribbean cruise ships
include San Juan on
their itineraries, and
stay one or two nights
in port. d Royal Caribbean:

^ Touts
Hordes of touts often
await arriving travelers
outside baggage claim,
and offer a variety of
services such as money
exchange, rental cars,
and illegal taxis. It is
always sensible to
decline these offers.
Visitors arriving on pre-
booked holiday packages
are met by bona fide
representatives.
& Changing Money
Airfares vary widely,
so compare quotes from
Internet suppliers, air-
lines, and travel agents.
Some wholesalers and
charter-flight companies
offer the best airfare and
hotel packages.

International
Airport
San Juan's airport, which
is the busiest in the
Caribbean, is only a short
taxi ride from the city's
hotel strip. It has two
terminals - the Main
Terminal and the American
Airlines Terminal - both
of which together receive
direct flights from more
than 20 US cities. Luis

) Ports of Entry
Official ports of
entry for independent
sailors are San Juan,
Aguadilla, Fajardo,
Mayagüez, and Ponce.
All arriving vessels must
be inspected, and each
arriving individual must
have a passport and have
already completed the
online ESTA application
or have a valid visa where
necessary (see p102) .
at the Airport
Puerto Rico uses US
dollars. If you arrive in
possession of Canadian
dollars or euros, the
airport is a good place to
change money. There are
foreign exchange bureaus
in the arrival halls at San
Juan's airport, as well as
an ATM, but this may be
empty during high season.
