Takhini Hot Springs
The odorless (no sulfur) Takhini Hot Springs (867/456-8000, 8am-10pm daily mid-June-
mid-Sept., 4pm-10pm daily the rest of the year, adult $11.50, senior $10, child $8) bubble
out of the ground at 36°C (96°F) north of Whitehorse. They have been developed, and are as
popular with locals as they are with visitors. The attached café has some of the best chicken
soup north of Vancouver. The hot springs campground (tents $20, RVs $30-37) is a good
place to spend the night, take an early dip, then hit the road to Dawson. Get to Takhini by
driving 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) north from Whitehorse toward Dawson City, then take
the 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) side road to the west (it's well signposted).
