ACCOMMODATIONS AND CAMPING
$50-100
Many Prince George accommodations fall into the $50-100 range, and they are spread
throughout the city. One of the least expensive is the College Heights Motel (five kilomet-
ers/3.1 miles west of downtown along Highway 16, 250/964-4708, $55 s, $60 d). It has no
toll-free number, no website, not even cable TV, but for $60 in high season, what do you
expect? It's on the south side of the highway at the top of the rise.
The most concentrated area of accommodations is along the Highway 97 bypass west
of downtown. Least expensive of these is Canadas Best Value Inn (1630 Central St., 250/
563-3671, $89-129 s or d), which has free wireless Internet and a restaurant.
$100-150
The least expensive rooms at Esther's Inn (1151 Commercial Cres., 250/562-4131 or 800/
663-6844, www.esthersinn.com , $99-139 s, $109-149 d) are dark and on the small side. In-
stead, request a renovated third-floor room, with Internet access and a king bed. Esther's is
a tropical-themed hotel, with rooms surrounding a lush tropical atrium packed with palms
and philodendrons, waterfalls, Polynesian artifacts, swimming pools, a water slide, and a
thatched-roof restaurant.
Over $150
The M Four Points by Sheraton (1790 Hwy. 93 S., 250/564-7100,
www.starwoodhotels.com , $160-195 s or d) is a standout in Prince George. Not because it's
a fantastic place to stay, but because the other choices are all a little tired. Opened in 2007,
it features 74 large rooms with wireless Internet and LCD TVs. Amenities include a res-
taurant (6am-9pm daily), a fitness room, and a business center.
Two major downtown hotels are more convenient for business travelers but come with
older rooms and overpriced dining. They are Ramada Prince George (444 George St., 250/
563-0055 or 800/830-8833, www.ramadaprincegeorge.com , $160 s or d) and Coast Inn
of the North (770 Brunswick St., 250/563-0121 or 800/716-6199, www.coasthotels.com ,
from $175 s or d). Both have indoor pools.
