Accommodations
M Mountain River Lodge (four kilometers/2.5 miles west of the visitor center, 250/
566-9899, www.mtrobson.com ) is in a delightful setting right alongside the Fraser River.
The main lodge holds four guest rooms, each with a different character, a balcony, and
private bathroom. The smallest of the rooms (with twin beds and a private bathroom down
the hall) is $110 s or d, while the other three are $135; rates include a cooked breakfast.
Self-contained cabins cost from $159 per night, with breakfast available at an extra charge.
One kilometer (0.6 mile) west of Mountain River Lodge is Mount Robson Lodge (250/
566-4821 or 888/566-4821, www.mountrobsonlodge.com , mid-May-mid-Oct., $89-159 s
or d), with 18 freestanding cabins; all but two have basic kitchens.
Campgrounds
Within the park are three auto-accessible campgrounds, with another just outside the park
boundary. Three of these are park-operated. Closest to the visitor center (and my favorite)
is Robson River Campground, where numerous trails lead down to the river for the clas-
sic upstream view of Mount Robson. It's also only a short walk to the visitor center and a
café. Across the highway is the larger Robson Meadows Campground, with 125 sites set
on a spiral road system that centers on an outdoor theater, which hosts evening interpretive
programs through summer. A number of sites at these two campgrounds can be reserved
through Discover Camping (519/826-6850 or 800/689-9025, www.discovercamping.ca ) .
Both campgrounds have flush toilets and showers but no hookups ($21 per site). Beside the
east end of Yellowhead Lake (swimming for the brave), 50 kilometers (31 miles) east of the
visitor center, is the more rustic Lucerne Campground, where sites are $16. All park-op-
erated campgrounds are open May to mid-September.
