The Trans-Canada Highway makes a lazy loop around the back of Revelstoke, missing
downtown completely. It's well worth the detour to downtown, not just for the best dining
but to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of a small city that has done an excellent job of pre-
serving its heritage. The rejuvenated downtown core centers around the appealing, all-brick
Grizzly Plaza. Southwest from the plaza along Mackenzie Avenue are many frontier-style
false-fronted buildings and the art deco-style Roxy Theatre. Pick up the Heritage Walking
& Driving brochure at the information center for routes that take in the historic highlights.
