Blaeberry Mountain Lodge (1680 Moberly School Rd., 250/344-5296,
www.blaeberrymountainlodge.bc.ca ) is on a 62-hectare (150-acre) property among total
wilderness. Rooms are in the main lodge or self-contained cabins, with plenty of activities
available to guests. Standard rooms with shared bathroom are $105 s or d, and the large
cabins, which feature a separate bedroom and full kitchen, are $145. The three-bedroom
cottage is $360 for up to four people. Breakfast and dinner are offered for $15 and $39, re-
spectively. Blaeberry is nine kilometers (5.6 miles) north of Golden along Highway 1, then
seven kilometers (4.3 miles) farther north along Moberly School Road.

South of town, Cedar House Chalets (735 Hefti Rd., 250/290-0001,
www.cedarhousechalets.com , $215-290 s or d) are spacious one- to three-bedroom suites
and cabins with full kitchens, wood-burning fireplaces, wireless Internet, barbeques, and
hot tubs—with the bonus of an excellent on-site restaurant.
Of the accommodations at the base of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Copper Horse
Lodge (250/344-7644 or 877/544-7644, www.copperhorselodge.com , $195-245 s or d in-
cludes breakfast) comes highly recommended. Guest rooms are outfitted in earthy yet styl-
ish color schemes and include bathrobes, Internet access, and TV/DVD combos. Other
amenities include a restaurant, lounge, and outdoor hot tub.
Campgrounds
Continue south through the old part of town over the Kicking Horse River and take 9th
Street South east at the traffic lights to reach Golden Municipal Campground (250/
344-5412, www.goldenmunicipalcampground.com , $25-33). It's a quiet place, strung out
along the river and two kilometers (1.2 miles) from downtown along a riverfront walkway.
Facilities include picnic shelters, hot coin-operated showers, wireless Internet, and 72 sites
(32 with power hookups) with fire pits. Across the road is a recreation center with a swim-
ming pool and fitness facility.

At an elevation of 2,347 meters (7,700 feet), M Eagle's Eye (250/439-5400 or 866/
754-5425, lunch daily, dinner weekends only, $28-42) is not only the crowning glory of
