FOOD
Nelson's reputation as a center of good eating has come ahead in leaps and bounds during
the past two decades, but a few old Chinese places hang on along Baker Street and remain
open later than all the other restaurants listed.
The best place for breakfast is the General Store Restaurant (Hume Hotel, 422 Vernon
St., 250/352-5331, 6:30am-9:30pm daily). Cooked breakfasts are huge, especially the om-
elets (from $9), which come piled high with delicious hash browns.
