Skagit Valley Provincial Park
This remote wilderness of 32,577 hectares (80,500 acres) southeast of Hope is bordered to
the east by Manning Provincial Park and to the south by the U.S.-Canada border. Access is
along the Silver-Skagit Road, which branches south off Flood Hope Road four kilometers
(2.5 miles) southwest of Hope. This rough gravel road climbs steadily for 39 kilometers (24
miles) to the park entrance, then continues 22 kilometers (14 miles) farther to the interna-
tional border and road's end at Ross Lake Reservoir.
Through the park, the road follows the Skagit River, which flows northward from Ross
Lake Reservoir through a magnificent valley cloaked in spruce, pine, aspen, and maple.
Black bears, cougars, wolves, coyotes, deer, beavers, and over 200 species of birds are all
present within the park.
