To find out more about the history of Hope, visit Hope Museum (919 Water Ave.,
604/869-7322, 9am-5pm daily May-June, 8am-8pm daily July-Aug., donation), in the same
building as the information center. The museum's comprehensive collection of pioneer
artifacts is displayed in several re-created settings, including a kitchen, bedroom, parlor,
schoolroom, and blacksmith shop. Other exhibits focus on local First Nations crafts and on
artifacts from the original Fort Hope and Gold-Rush days. Outside, climb on the Hope Gold
Mill, a restored gold-ore concentrator from the Coquihalla area.
While you're discovering the downtown area, check out the tree-stump art, created by
Pete Ryan. The eagle holding a salmon in its claws (in front of the district office) was carved
