Camping
Enjoying a pleasant location just over two kilometers (1.2 miles) north of the village,
Riverside RV Resort (8018 Mons Rd., 604/905-5533 or 877/905-5533,
www.whistlercamping.com , tents $35, hookups $51) is the only campground within town
boundaries. It offers a modern bathroom complex (with in-floor heating), putting course,
playground, hot tub, laundry, small general store, and a café (daily from 7am), with a small
wooded area set aside for walk-in tent campers.
FOOD
Like the town itself, the dining scene in Whistler is hip, ever-changing, and not particularly
cheap. Many small cafés dot the cobbled walkways of Whistler Village, while most bars
have reasonably priced pub-fare menus.
For a caffeine fix, Moguls Coffee House (4208 Village Square, 604/932-4845, from
6:30am daily) is as good as any place—it's popular with both locals and visitors, and the
outdoor seating catches the morning sun.
Aussies living in and visiting Whistler are drawn to Peaked Pies (4369 Main St., 604/
962-4115), which is open daily from 11am until the last pie has been sold. Pay from $6 for
traditional meat pies or a little extra for offerings such as chicken, leek, and mushroom.
Asian
Reasonably priced Mongolian fare is on the menu at Mongolie Grill (4295 Whistler Way,
Whistler Village, 604/938-9416, from 11:30am daily; $21-29). This is one of the better
places to take children. They'll love choosing their own ingredients—meats, vegetables,
etc.—with matching sauces, and then watching the speedy chefs fry up the personalized
dish in front of them.
Nagomi Sushi (Le Chamios Hotel, 4557 Blackcomb Way, 604/962-0404, dinner daily,
$19-28) serves a mix of modern and traditional Japanese dishes in a casual setting.
Casual
The rustic decor and great Canadian food at Garibaldi Lift Co. Bar & Grill (604/
905-2220, daily for lunch and dinner, $14-27), at the base of the Whistler Village gondola,
have been a big hit since it opened in 1995. The bar and sundeck are popular après-ski
hangouts, and by around 8pm everyone's back for dinner. For Western-style atmosphere
with mountain views, head to the Longhorn Saloon and Grill (Carleton Lodge, 4284
