In-Depth Information
Accommodation pricing in Whistler is complex. The best advice is to shop around using
the phone or Internet. Contact the lodgings and then the booking agencies listed here to get
a comparison.
Winter is most definitely high season, with the week after Christmas and all of February
and March a high season within a high season, especially for lodgings within walking dis-
tance of the lifts or that are self-contained and capable of sleeping more than two people.
These are also the accommodations that discount most heavily outside of winter. For ex-
ample, at the Delta Whistler Village Suites website ( www.deltahotels.com ) , type in a Febru-
ary date and then a July date under reservations—a bargain in July and over the top in
winter.
Although winter is peak season, rates quoted here are for summertime.
Reservation Services
If you plan on skiing or golfing, a package deal is the way to go. These can be booked dir-
ectly through many accommodations, but the following two agencies offer a wider scope of
choices: Tourism Whistler (604/932-0606 or 800/944-7853, www.whistler.com ) and Al-
lura Direct (604/707-6700 or 866/425-5872, www.alluradirect.com/whistler ) .
Under $50
HI-Whistler (1035 Legacy Way, Cheakamus Crossing, 604/962-0025, www.hihostels.ca )
is eight kilometers (five miles) southwest of town at a site that was developed as the Ath-
lete's Village for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. It's a large, modern lodging with fa-
cilities such as a large communal kitchen, dining area, free wireless Internet, an elevator,
a barbeque area, and a café with lots of outdoor seating. It's understandably popular year-
round; members pay $36 per night, nonmembers $40 for a dorm bed. Upgrade to a private
room for $95 ($105 for nonmembers).
$50-100
There's not too much on offer in Whistler in this price bracket—it's either a dorm bed or an
expensive hotel room here.
$100-150
M Crystal Lodge (4154 Village Green, 604/932-2221 or 800/667-3363, www.crystal-
lodge.com , $149-219 s or d) stands out as an excellent value in the heart of the action of
Whistler Village. Rooms in the original wing are spacious and have a homey feel. The
North Wing holds larger suites that have balconies. All guests have the use of an outdoor
hot tub and heated pool.
