ENTERTAINMENT AND EVENTS
Nightlife
Throughout the year, you can usually find live evening entertainment in Whistler Village. In
the heart of the action at the base of the mountain, Garibaldi Lift Co. Bar & Grill (Springs
Lane, 604/905-2220) features live entertainment most nights—often blues and jazz—and
good food at reasonable prices. At Buffalo Bill's (4122 Village Green, 604/932-6613), ex-
pect anything from reggae to rock. For two decades, Tommy Africa's (4216 Gateway Dr.,
604/932-6090) has been one of the village's hottest nightspots. Pumping out high-volume
reggae across the valley's most crowded dance floor, it's popular with the younger crowd.
Head to Savage Beagle (4222 Village Square, 604/938-3337) or Garfinkels (4308 Main
St. 604/932-2323) nightly between 8pm and 2am for dance, house, and alternative music.
Black's Pub (Sundial Boutique Hotel, 4270 Mountain Square, 604/932-6945) offers
more than 90 international beers and a quiet atmosphere in a small upstairs English-style
bar and tables spilling out to a patio with mountain views. A more refined watering hole is
the Crystal Lounge (Crystal Lodge, 4154 Village Green, 604/932-2221).
Festivals Events
The winter season is packed with ski and snowboard races, but the biggest is the World Ski
& Snowboard Festival (604/938-3399, www.wssf.com ), through mid-April. This innovat-
ive event brings together the very best winter athletes for the World Skiing Invitational and
the World Snowboarding Championship. These are only the flagships of this 10-day extra-
vaganza, which also includes demo days, exhibitions, and a film festival.
